10 years in business

In 2010 it is 10 years ago since Energy Consulting Network was established


1st December 2010

During its 10 years of existence the Company has managed to be one of the most active Danish players in the international energy and climate market working for private and public sector clients, as well as international donors and international financing institutions.

The Company today consists of four partners and a number of project employees.

Active in restructuring of the energy sector in Eastern Europe

In the first years of its existence the Company was most active in assisting the three Baltic States in developing their energy sectors to meet the requirements of EU and the new market economy in general.  Among several projects in Lithuania can be mentioned training of managers in the Lithuanian district heating sector and assistance to introduction of mandatory municipal energy planning in Lithuania. In Estonia the most significant project was the development of a national strategy for decentralised CHP plants, including the preparation of the first biomass- fired CHP plant in Estonia. As to Latvia can be mentioned assistance to introduce energy management system in public buildings, national energy statistics and the monitoring of a straw-fired demonstration heating plant. Within this period the Company also provided various assistance to the Nordic Council of Ministers in the RES area in the Baltic Sea Region. Further the Company has been involved in assistance projects in e.g. Russia, Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia, Uzbekistan and Romania.

Of recent projects can be mentioned that ECNet coordinated a Phare project in Romania dealing with technical and economic assessment of renewable energy sources in Romania. Also in Romania the Company assisted a private oil company in developing business models in the RES market.

Market expansion in Asia

From 2002 the Company expanded its activities to Asia and particularly to countries like Thailand, Malaysia and the Maldives where several projects have focused on developing and implementing framework conditions for sustainable energy. In Thailand and Malaysia the Company had several experts stationed permanently for a period of years to assist governmental organisations. Among other activities in Asia can be mentioned training of wind and biogas project developers in Philippines and Vietnam.

EU Promotion and research projects

Currently the Company is active in developing the climate market involving geographical areas like China, India, South-East Asia and Southern America. This is primarily done within the EU sixth framework programme in which the Company has been increasingly involved in recent years including coordination of projects. Also within EU promotion projects and especially within the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme ECNet has been increasingly involved including coordination of three projects. Through these projects ECNet has got involved in most parts of Europe focusing on development of sustainable energy communities and facilitation of RES and energy efficiency investments. Ongoing projects deal with ccoperation between European regions, implementation of an European energy campaign, training of university students and assistance to municipalities in the EU Covenant of Mayors process. It is also worth mentioning that ECNet is assisting on EU major initiatives like the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign and Managenergy. Further the Company is involved in a EU Concerto project in Ireland focusing on sustainable energy in rural areas.



Energy and Climate Policy is globally facing big challenges. Our Company is dedicated to continue being an active player in tackling these challenges in interaction with our many cooperation partners and utilising the comprehensive experience built up in our first 10 years in business.
